You mean think about how NOT to get screw over by icbc? hehe Because they could say is 50/50 and jack up your's and the other guy's insurance rate. My friend told me they often do that just so they can make money ----------
hmm...all the sudden i have to goto the doctors. oops, is that my lawyer on the other line..??? *muahhhhhhhh* ---------- 03 CELICA GT-S TRD EDITION TC-14 ICQ#42638407 TEAM CELICA VANCOUVER
Just out of curiosity? Is everyone required to be insured by the ISBC in Canada??? If so, who decided on this? And what were the benefits (that "they" saw") in doing so?
ICBC stands for Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. It is government owned. We have the option of buying just the basic package from ICBC and getting our optional insurance from a private company. ICBC is actually a lot better than private. It is a lot cheaper and has more of a standard rate than private. I don't know what insurance costs in the states, but mine is about $2500/yr whereas in Alberta, it would be about $4500 through a private company. ICBC doesn't raise prices based on age, sex, etc...but accidents will raise the rate.
HHHMmm that is interesting. Ya rates vary greatly in the states. I was with my insurance company for two years paying 1800 US a year. Then all of sudden they decided to hike it up to 3000 a year. no accidents or tickets. So now I have new company and I'm paying 1200 a year. It's a very strange industry!
Yeah, that's why BC has the crown corporation. It balances things out better. And they're fairly reliable when it comes to claims. There was just a big rate hike though. I did pay about $1700cdn/year. ICBC lost a bunch of money on bad investments, so they jacked up the prices. I guess they figured it was justified because of the extremely high prices in other provinces.
well, got my rental car now. so i can cruise..hehe.... my parts are gonna be replaced, and not fixed.... ---------- 03 CELICA GT-S TRD EDITION TC-14 ICQ#42638407 TEAM CELICA VANCOUVER
